BIOSPHERE 2 EMAIL MARKETING

 

THE VOICE

Operated and funded by the University of Arizona, Biosphere 2 is the largest air-sealed, self-sustaining environment in the world. Researchers have access to six sealed ecosystems and the facility’s surrounding campus to solve the world’s most imperative problems in climate change and sustainability. Biosphere 2 is located just outside of Tucson in Oracle, Arizona.

Similar to science or technology-related publications directed toward general audiences (i.e., National Geographic, Wired, etc.), Biosphere 2’s voice is accessible, informative, and thorough. This organization’s voice walks the walk as a leader in climate research (because it is 🌎).

THE CONTENT: EMAIL MARKETING

I led email marketing to boost online engagement, visitation, and donations to Biosphere 2 in 2022 and 2023.

STRATEGY

  • Developed a regular working relationship with the local Biosphere 2 social media team to coordinate email marketing with their post calendar

  • Added another email containing a story and donation-forward content to increase engagement among Biosphere 2 supporters.

RESULTS

  • Open rates went up by an average of 10%

  • Average CTR reached the industry standard (2.7%)

  • Website visits to the University of Arizona’s Biosphere 2 donation page increased by 5%
